This family-owned, family style restaurant is a Morro Bay Institution and serves yummy food at a decent price. nothing particularly fancy but without a doubt satisfying. the service is personal and quite friendly. I am sure they are able to keep the cost down due to the location not being on the Embarcadero but I am fine with that because there is ample parking and prices that are appealing to the locals and any lucky tourists who happened to stumble across this place. the hours are quite accommodating as well and it's a great way to start off your day exploring Morro Bay or the Central Coast. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I always have breakfast here when I come to Morro Bay. The hash browns are my absolute favorite and they are fried in coconut oil which gives them their unique and delicious flavor. Thick slices of smokey bacon is another favorite served here. I recommend The Hungry Fisherman to anyone who enjoys a great breakfast at a reasonable price.

We were again really luky with our choise. This Restaurant has excellent fish and chips. Usually I‘m not the fish and chips lover, but this is really delicious. The service waitress was helpfull and patient. If you plan a stop in morro bay than here is the place where you should go for lunch or dinner.

We used to come here all the time back in the day and am very glad we came back tonight. I had a delicious patty melt and my husband had the biggest piece of chicken fried steak I've ever seen. The excellent service, friendly staff and wonderful food will guarantee we'll be coming back.

Best family restaurant in Morro Bay! We make it a mission to eat here at least once a day while we are visiting from northern Ca. Everything is wonderful but if you're like me and picky you can't go wromg with the Avocado bacon and cheese omelette. I always add their salsa to it. I guarantee you won't leave hungry or dissatisfied!!

We stopped here to eat when getting into town late. The place is homey and the portions large. We are out for and had leftovers. The waitress was nice. Service pretty quick. The bathroom was amusing, kinda sochi-style. Overall, a good experience and they fed us well.

We have been long time "regulars" and look forward to our bi-weekly meals. Not only is our primary reason to eat a great meal, it is to see our "friends" who run and own this amazing restaurant. We have been of the Hungry Fisherman "family" the people you only know from the this congenial and happy place to gather. We know when someone is going to get married and we know when someone is going through hard times, Through all this we have enjoyed wonderful meals, Fish & Chips, Amazing Salads, soul soothing homemade soups, plus oh such more. Come and join the Hungry Fisherman Family, have a great meal, extraordinary deserts and exemplary service. What more could anyone ask from a "FAMILY" restaurant?

Good food. First time there since remodel. Last visit was 1980. Will go back.

Great place. We got a room near by, and came here to eat. The meals are really well portioned i had the cod, it was a nice cut of fish, and good salad and veges to match. We will definitely be coming back here. Great prices too. And without the wait of the sea side places. And only 3 blocks from the beach great place!

Good place to eat. We came here 20:35 and a very nice woman let us in. We ordered fish and chips and beer. Typical American for us and we enjoyed it a lot. It was quiet and nice location. Nice paintings on the wall and the employees are friendly. If you travel between Los Angeles and San Francisco go here to eat. We came here from Germany and we would come here again haha.

I have been eating at the Hungry Fisherman for years. They always have great food at a reasonable price. A nice family diner atmosphere adds to the experience. A great restaurant for any visitor or local!

Great home style food. Retro diner-style restaurant. Breakfast portions huge! Great burgers and Mexican food. Desserts are phenomenal! Nothing has changed in 40 years and that's a good thing!

I came here for breakfast first time it was really good they have a huge menu with just about everything imaginable and you can even eat in in you prefer .I had the budget # 4 just the right size for me and the coffee is so good . I even took one to go.

Nice restaurant with the biggest, thickest pancakes I've ever seen! They were good, but not my preference, that's why 4 stars instead of 5. Service was friendly and responsive. I would definitely go back when visiting Morro Bay.

Wow! The locals really do know where to go. Avoid the overpriced shops along the beach and go to a real restaurant! The country fried steak came with home made biscuits and gravy and took up the whole plate. My wife's egg Benedict came out AMAZING. I've never seen her eat so much! What really sets this place apart though it's the fantastic service! Everyone was so attentive and polite, happy to have a quick chat and give suggestions. I would expect to pay a premium for such a great combination of food and service but instead I find myself at one of the more affordable places in town and I couldn't be more satisfied!

Cute Diner in a super awesome and cute Fisherman's town. Food was good, prices were okay and Personell was great. If I'll ever be in Morro Bay again, this will be my destination for breakfast.

Ordered breakfast to go. My wife said they were some of the best pancakes she's ever had. my omelette was amazing. Definitely gonna dine in next time we stay up there

I have been eating here since I was a little girl, like 4 years old, I am now 26 and still my absolute favorite place to eat of all time. Never once have I had a bad experience and even after the remodel my grandmother says the biscuits and gravy is still great! And my personal choice is the clam chowder, just finish eating it and still just as great as I have always remembered!

Covid is screwing everything up, especially restaurants. This place has really good breakfasts. Service is friendly and they set up outdoor dining. The peach pie is really good, and that's what we normally get. It's an old school diner feel. This was our first time dining there. I didn't really care for their clam chowder bread bowl. Tasted like canned soup in a not so fresh sourdough bowl. The Mexican food was also not very authentic and would avoid. Tasted like all canned ingredients, nothing home made. Get the breakfast. Will try some other dinner food sometime.

What a wonderful friendly local business in Morro Bay, CA! The Hungry Fisherman has been around for many years serving up both fresh seafood and other dinner items such as burgers and steaks. Our visit came in the morning so a delicious breakfast was in order. The waiter was very nice and made sure to keep our coffee mugs as full as we liked. I got a combo plate with pancakes which really hit the spot. Sometimes one's belly just calls for the sweet concrete that is a proper flapjack. I really enjoyed the 1970's colored glass windows along the ceiling too. They just don't make glass like that any more. There is plenty of parking available so be sure to stop in the next time you are in town.

If u like big portions, this is a 5 star place. The wait staff was very nice, but a little busy. The restaurant decor is 1960 semi nautical. Breakfast was decent, similar to a Denny's.

We came here twice while vacationing in morro bay. Really nice place. Eggs cooked perfectly. Wonderful service. Good coffee. Didn't get a chance to try the pie! Next time! Thank you for making our trip extra special.

Old school good ole food

Great hospitality their deserts are to-die-for had the most delicious coconut cream pie,They gave you a full plate of fries when you order any type of Sandwich dish mine was a cheese bacon burger, not too bad although I probably would have liked the hamburger to be a little bit bigger than the bun they gave you a lot of bread. But I definitely want to try the tuna melt those are always my favorite I'll be back!!

The food was great. My family and I ate clam chowder, a Philly Sandwich, Rock Cod, curly fries and French bread. Absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere and the service was great. Waitresses were cordial and helpful. Highly recommend this restaurant.
